The property centers on an 1875 adobe home built by Jesús María Gutiérrez and later restored and expanded by Dr. Ward Alan and Shirley Minge in the mid-20th century. Using salvaged historic materials\, the Minges created a romantic Territorial Period Greek Revival rancho that now showcases their collection of 18th- and 19th-century art\, tools\, and furnishings. \nJoin us to explore the museum’s history and programs\, including daily tours\, lectures\, workshops\, heritage arts classes\, festivals\, and year-round educational trainings.

SUMMARY:Heritage Spinning and Weaving: Indigo Dyeing at Casa San Ysidro
DESCRIPTION:Indigo was one of the dyes used by Spanish Colonial spinners and weavers to obtain beautiful shades of blue. The dye was often sold or traded from Mexico and is one of few natural dyes that does not require a mordant. This class features the use of indigo dye. Both wool and cotton will be dyed by participants.
