If you are a newcomer, you are about to learn about our unofficial aroma of fall. We like pumpkin and apple smells too, but there is no better smell than chile roasting. Whether this is your first fall in New Mexico or your hundred and first, you need to go smell for yourself. Here are all of our favorite places in Albuquerque to find chile roasting.

Farmers Chile Market

Location: 2010 Eubank Blvd NE, Albuquerque

From August to October, Farmers Chile Market has the best chile from all over the state. They also have ristras and dried Chile product, exclusively from Hatch.


Sichler Farms

Location: 2010 Eubank Blvd NE, Albuquerque
Hours: Thursday – Saturday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, Sunday 9:30 am – 4: 30 pm, Closed Tuesday and Wednesday

The Sichler family has been farming in New Mexico for six generations. What started as orchards and vineyards has turned into chile and other produce. They have four varieties of chile ranging from mild to extra hot.

 

West Side

Nelson’s Meats

Location: 929 Old Coors Dr SW, Albuquerque
Hours: Tuesday- Saturday 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, Closed Sunday and Monday

Nelson’s has been a staple in Albuquerque for the past 50 years. Not only are they known for their meats, they also have chile roasting in the fall.


The Fruit Basket ABQ

A one-stop shop for chile and all of your local favorites. The fruit stand has everything from chile, to jams and local honeys.

Go get your smells in at the historic Rail Yards in Downtown Albuquerque. While you are there, check out the other vendors. There is so much to do!


Big Jim Farms U-Pick

Location: 3521 Rio Grande Blvd, Albuquerque
Hours: 8 am – 6 pm daily

Big Jim’s is Albuquerque’s U-Pick Destination! They have chile picking and roasting, but they also have pumpkins and sunflowers! Definitely a great family activity!

Marybeth Lobato

Marybeth is an Albuquerque native who has been married to her husband, Jacob, since September 2018.
