Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15 to October 15. And here in Albuquerque, there is a rich Hispanic tradition. We have much to celebrate regarding the contributions of Hispanic Americans to our city and country.

September 15 marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, a month-long national celebration designed to commemorate the contributions of Hispanic Americans to art, culture, and other fields.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Albuquerque

For anyone who doesn’t know the history of this month, it began in 1968 as a single week of celebration, tied to the anniversary of the Cry of Dolores, which marked the start of the Mexican War of Independence and eventually led to the independence of several Central American countries, along with Mexico.

There are many events around Albuquerque to celebrate this time of year. Make sure to get a few on your calendar this month.
